10 things I love and don't love about myself.

3:05 PM OUR FULL HOUSE 5 Comments

My friend posted on her blog 10 things she didn't like about herself, I thought it might be nice to do both...

Tens things I don't like about myself

1.  Weight: I hate that I am always struggling with my weight.  I know a lot has to do with having 5 children but I wish I was one of those people that was skinny AND eat whatever I wanted. I am either eating super healthy or totally opposite, and skip good meals just to eat treats.

2. My gummy smile:  If you have ever seen me laugh really hard, or smile super big you totally know what I'm talking about.  I don't love that you can see a lot of my gums when I smile.  It makes me really self conscious and because I have such a big smile I feel like I always have food in my teeth and so I end up covering my mouth when I eat... for sure something I would change.

3. My dislike of running;  I try really hard to get out and run 1-2 times a week but I dread it.  I really wish I loved running and was good at it and could run no problem 5-10 miles daily {maybe this would help out #1 too}

4.  Comparing myself:  I know that know one is perfect, my favorite talk is by Elder Utchdorf that talks about how we compare our weakness to other's strengths, but I still do it.  I never feel my house is cute enough, clean enough, I'm not the best mom, cute enough, thin enough, etc .   I have a love hate relationship with Instagram cause I see so many cute ideas, but then a lot of times I feel bad because the stuff I do isn't as good.

5. Tiredness; I don't know how people make it through the day, about 2 ever day I just want to crawl into bed and take a nap {and often do}  I feel horrible that I can't go through the day without a nap.  The only time I can is if I drink caffeine which I don't like doing so I just take a nap...  and my babies are almost 2 and sleep through the night so I don't feel like I can use that as an excuse anymore.

6. Competitiveness: I am definitely not as competitive as I use to be, but I hate how competitive I get at games.  I once took the color test and I am half blue, half red, it said I love to beat people and then feel horrible about it after.  The test was totally accurate!

7. Controlling: This probably goes a long the lines of #4, or maybe cause I grew up in such a clean place, but it makes me so happy when everything is clean and in order {You might not be able to tell cause it feels like my home is never clean}  but I have the best feeling when it is.  I also want everything my way, the way it's decorated, I pick out my kids outfits {I put the outfits together in rolls and then they can pick out which order they wear} but my kids are getting their own taste and want to pick out how they wear their hair and clothes and I have a really hard time just letting go...

8. yelling:  I try really hard to be the best mother I can, do fun things, not yell, etc.  But then my kids come home when I have spent the whole day cleaning and they throw their stuff everywhere and I can't help but snap and then yell at them, and then feel like the worst mother ever.  I want to be the soft spoken always kind {Christ Like} Mother, not sure I can accomplish this one unless my kids decide to clean up after themselves and not fight!

9. cooking and laundry: I wish that I loved cooking and laundry it would be so much easier.  I think I don't like them cause it feels never ending.  I am big on Ta-da things.  I love cleaning a dirty bathroom cause it then looks clean and like I accomplished something, but cooking and laundry don't fit in that, it is never ending and there is always more to do...

10. Hair:  Although I don't think I have the worst hair, I wish that I had some really gorgeous locks. It's just something I wish I could change...

Well now I am feeling awful about my self. Ha ha so I thought I would add to it by doing 10 things I like about myself... hopefully I can name ten!

10 Things I like about myself

1.  Skinny face:  People don't think I have a lot to loose cause they see my face is thin, it is totally deceiving.  Thankfully I have a thin face or else you would really be able to see that I'm chubby!

2.  Make friends easily:  I think I might have developed this over the 11 times we have moved, but I think I can make friends pretty easily.  I remember not having tons of girl friends in high school so I know I haven't always been like this, but through all the moves I can see that you just have to go put yourself out there and be friendly to everyone.  I have gotten to meet some amazing people!

3.  Photography:  I am grateful to have a talent/interest that brings in a little money and then makes people happy.  I love taking pictures and creating something beautiful!

4.  Fast reader: Kind of a weird thing to like but I love that I can read fast.  I really like reading but I also don't have tons of free time, so I am glad I can sit down and read a book in a couple hours.

5. Creative bones:  Crafts and decorating come easy to me and I love doing it.  I have a lots of friends and family that say it is hard to do that kind of stuff, no creative bones, so I am grateful I have creative bones cause I love doing that kind of stuff.

6. Stubborn:  This probably could go on both list, but I kind of like that once I set my mind to something I do it.  This kills my husband as I often want to do a project and want to do it right now, but he is amazing so he goes along with it.

7. My husband:  Why is this on my list? Because in my blessing it says I will have a righteous husband saved for me if I choose the right, and I am so grateful that I was able to do the things needed to earn him.  He is so amazing, and I know I am SO lucky to have such a wonderful, loving, creative husband and father to my kids.

8. My kids:  Even though I never imagined I would have 5 kids, I am so grateful that Heavenly Father knew better than me.   I am so lucky to have the kids I do they are my everything and I love them so much!  They are my biggest accomplishment! When I went to Tom's Grandpa's funeral last week they read a long, long, long, list of his life accomplishments, and it struck me if I died right now my list would be short. {Something like graduated high school, associated in college, and had 5 kids.... they might have to make stuff up like has changed 10,000 diapers, etc.} But then I thought well this is what I am suppose to be doing right now.. and I am so grateful to be able to stay home and be with my kids, even if it doesn't make my list of accomplishments long!

9.  Sense of Humor:   I might not be the funniest person around, but I think I have a great sense of humor.  I love joking with my kids, and hubby, I love life and think 90% off the time I have a smile on my face. {Even if it's a really gummy one}

10.  Laid back:  I think I'm pretty chill.  It takes a lot to get me upset, hold a grudge {I can't think of anyone I have a grudge against}  I would like to think I am pretty laid back.  Unless you mess with my kids or mess up my house, ha ha then I pretty easy going... This works well with my husband to cause even if I get mad at him, ten minutes later I have forgotten and am ready to move on.

Well there you go...It's 3:00, I'm off to take a nap before the boys wake up!! LOL

Sweet Brittany,
You are always so cute to comment on my blog and I am the worst at commenting on people's blogs. I smiled when I jumped over to your blog and saw you did indeed do the 10 things. I love that you did 10 things you do love too. I might need to do that one as well. :) I have to say I welled to the brim with love for you as I read your things. First of all you are AMAZING in EVERY way and I just had to say a few things about the things you don't love about yourself. I was surprised to see your smile and hair made the list. :) Your smile and hair were some of the first things I noticed about you, both beautiful in every way! Isn't it funny how some things people see as a negative others have already nabbed as a positive! I also hope you know how many people admire and compare themselves to YOU! You are the one that has everything so together and are like you said in the 1o things you love you are laid back, love your kids, are creative, talented and funny. Things I wish I was! You need to read a post on the power of moms website (one of my favorites) that is about napping. This woman has teenagers and takes a nap everyday. It is such a good post, it will make you feel totally fine about taking a nap! :) I will have to look for it for you. It is by April Perry. I also laughed because we are a lot alike! I also wish I liked running (but I don't), wish I wasn't competitive, and controlling and was also a blue red in my color code! :) The bottom line is I think you are wonderful and remarkable and beautiful and spiritual and kind and Christ Like. I hope you see that in yourself every day! I adore you!!!

Britt, I love this post. It is so interesting to read your things you don't like. I to have so many of those same things. #1 for sure! #3 I have been thinking about a lot lately and wished I had more motivation to run. #4 Just the other day you posted a picture of somewhere in your house, and guess what I did....I totally compared myself and thought that I was a crappy decorator and wished I had money and time to make my house more cute! LOL We all wish we were better, skinnier, had cuter clothes etc, but the thing is we are who we are and we need to be happy about it. But why is it SO Hard?!?!?! I am also with you on the yelling thing and the hair. I HATE my hair right now and wish I would have never thought that cutting my hair would make me happier :) You are amazing Brit and I look up to you. And when I have more moolah, you are more then welcome to come help me decorate my house :)

you are simply fabulous in every way britt! that about sums up everything! miss you!

I might copy too, but your right it is so much easier to jab on yourself than it is to build yourself up. ;) We are funny. I know you feel like your "hates" are valid one, but there just not sis. Im sorry to tell you but your just darling and completely talented (photography and home decor) and ps, I think more parents need to yell at their kids. I see too many every day that dont even care enough to yell. They'd rather just call the police to do their job for them. Sometimes being a GOOD mom means you have to yell at your kids. Love you
